I use gluten-free graham cracker crumbs to make the crust for pumpkin pie, easier than rolling out the dough.

@Tamatam the link in the article is chiefly for the pie crust recipe. I posted a few comments again for the link to the vegan filling. I couldn't find a good one online that combined the two. The two I posted I have used before!

I love that the first step listed here is communicate and the last is educate! Too often I find my gluten-free friends are afraid to do either because they fear it will be a burden on the host or they are overstepping some invisible boundary. Unfortunately, that fear is fueled by people who say they don't feel they should have to accommodate their gluten free guests (just read an advice column in my local paper saying just that). If more GF folks would be open and honest about their situation upfront — rather than complaining afterwards about the lack of GF food — we could avoid perpetuating the bad mentality and work toward change. Thanks for this post Udis!

The pie recipe the article links to is made with ricotta and cream. Not very vegan.
Otherwise, good tips!

I missed the TV show on Monday when chef O'Keeffe was supposedly cooking gf Thanksgiving food. An email from Udi's told me to come visit the blog if I missed it, so I came here looking for those recipes it talked about... There's only ONE recipe out of this blog post and it's for the stuffing. The other TWO links to recipes are NOT by Udi's - they're on another website. Ok, Udi's, where are chef O'Keeffe's Thanksgiving recipeS (plural) ? I only see one here, the other two are NOT his. What's up? Yes, I see... trying to coax me into coming to the website for the hitcount and hoping I'll click ads and whatever? I came expecting a list of recipes from your chef. Just more corporate BS / cross promotion / downplaying how bad we've got it. By the way, friends and family stuck in traditions will not change just for one reject in the group.

Hello! I use this vegan recipe for the filling:

http://www.pure2raw.com/2009/11/gluten-free-vegan-pumpkin-pie/

I just replace the hemp milk with vanilla almond milk. I hope you enjoy!
