What’s your favorite summer sandwich?
We all know the tried and true varieties of the sandwich: the BLT, peanut butter and jelly, grilled cheese, tuna salad, and many more. But what do you do when it’s sweltering outside and you’re craving a nice, easy sandwich, but you-swear-if-you-see-another-PB&J-you-might-just-go-crazy? Well, after sleuthing around on numerous blogs and our Facebook page, we’re here to save you from the summer sandwich doldrums!
When we asked our Facebook fans to share their favorite summer sandwiches, the comments ranged from unusual combinations to simple twists on classics. Michelle T. shared a delicious kale, steamed beet and turkey breast sandwich with hot sauce, Shayna O.’s COBALT—a.k.a. Cucumber, Onion, Bacon, Avocado, Lettuce, andTomato—has our mouths watering, and Michelle G.’s simple variation on a grilled cheese (switch it up with a different variety of cheese, or combine a couple! Yum!) is quite easy to make. I don’t know about you, but after reading all of those recipes, I was tempted to go on a sandwich-only diet for weeks!
These next six recipes were ones that we hand-picked for their unusual, new, and scrumptious ingredients:
- BLT with Fried Green Tomatoes
- Smashed Chickpea and Avocado Salad
- Asian Tuna Salad
- Perfect Breakfast Sandwich for Kids
- Curried Pea and Egg
- Brie Pear with Pepita Pesto
