Let The Game Begin! Your GF Super Bowl Game Plan

By: Matt James

Super Bowl Sunday has become an adopted National Holiday to the degree that people think that they should have monday off work!  Well that is probably not happening any time soon but that is not gonna stop the people from partying the day away.  Even though the game is later, the festivities are throughout the day.  Foods and beverages are a must if you’re gonna celebrate this wonderful event.  The majority of these parties rarely cater to the gluten free crowd but that doesn’t mean you can’t bring GF to the party!

Pre-Game:

The time leading up to the game is when cocktails and dips come in handy!  Easy to layout and allow company to mix and dip while you prep the game time pizzas!

Dips

  • Babaghannouj

  • Eggplant Humus

  • Avocado (chopped) w/ Salsa

  • Guacamole

  • Spinach Dip

Chips

  • Jalapeno Cheddar Ancient Grain Crisps (Udi’s)

  • Sea Salt Ancient Grain Crisps (Udi’s)

  • Aged Cheddar Ancient Grain Crisps (Udi’s)

  • Organic Corn Chip Dippers (Trader Joe’s)

Game Time Elixer’s:

If you are looking for some alcoholic beverages to have during the game there are some good GF options out there.  Check out this article for 6 Gluten Free Beers that don’t suck.  Also Suzanne found this great resource of some tasty Gluten Free Vodka’s!

Pizza Crust

If you prefer thin then “Udi’s Thin & Crispy Pizza Crusts” is perfect!  This comes in the frozen section at your local grocery stores and is ready to start decorating immediately.

If deep dish is your thing then “Pamela’s Bread Mix” is an excellent choice.  Just follow the “Pamela’s Chewy Pizza Crust” recipe on the back of the bag.

After following the preparation these are the following toppings we used:

  • Pizza/Marinara Sauce

  • Greek Olives

  • Sun Dried Tomatoes

  • Artichoke Hearts

  • Red Onions

  • Feta Cheese

  • Mushrooms

  • Pepperoncini (Garnish)

If your audience is big and you need a lot of pizza then Udi’s has a great selection of frozen pizza’s like the Three Cheese, Margherita, Pepperoni, Spinach & Feta Pizza’s.  Who doesn’t like pizza during the big game?!

Post Game:

After the game is decided and everyone has survived the emotional rollercoaster that Denver & Seattle are surely to provide, we all know the sweet tooth is sure to come out!  This is where a lot of parties fall short on the gluten free snacks.  But not your party!  Udi’s provides a lot of options in this area.  My personal favorites include:

Snickerdoodle Cookies, Salted Caramel Cashew Cookies, Dark Chocolate Brownie Bites & Blueberry Muffins

There are plenty of other great Cookies & Brownies, Muffins & Cinnamon Rolls options that Udi’s offers so be sure to check em out!

May the best team win & most importantly, you have Gluten Free good time!
