Gluten-Free Pizza at Pizza Hut

Starting today, customers can order Gluten-Free Pizza at select Pizza Huts

For some time, we’ve seen you guys do all sorts of unique and inventive things to eat pizza. From your special homemade version to cauliflower crusts to zucchini pizza boats, we’ve been impressed with your pizza spirit. But we knew you were still missing out on the simple joy of ordering pizza and having it arrive at your door. So we got together with our friends at Pizza Hut and came up with a solution.

Since we’ve shared this announcement, we’ve been listening to all of your feedback. We’re so happy to see your interest and anticipation, but we’ve also been tracking your biggest concerns and questions. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we are seeing.

Udi's & Pizza Hut

Q: Are these pizzas baked in a separate oven?

A: GIG to the rescue! Pizza Hut worked with gluten-free foodservice experts, the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG), to develop customized procedures for preparing the cheese-only and pepperoni pizzas inside Pizza Hut restaurants. For starters, the Udi’s gluten-free crust, which is the foundation for every Gluten-Free Pizza served at Pizza Hut, as well as the cheese, marinara sauce and pepperoni, will be kept in a designated Gluten-Free Kit inside each restaurant. All team members preparing the Gluten-free Pizza will wear gloves, bake the fresh-to-order pizza on parchment paper and use a designated gluten-free pizza cutter. Then, the pizzas will be placed in pizza boxes featuring Udi’s Gluten-Free logo for delivery.

Q: Is there loose/airborne flour in Pizza Hut restaurants?

A: No flour fights here. Pizza Hut does not have loose, or airborne, flour in restaurants where Gluten-Free Pizza is on the menu.

Q: Are these just Udi’s frozen pizzas baked at Pizza Hut?

A: Um…that would be pretty uncool, wouldn’t it? No, Pizza Hut’s Gluten-Free Pizzas are made with Udi’s signature crust, but topped with all of the flavor you want from Pizza Hut’s delicious ingredients.

Q: How much is this pizza going to cost? Like $100?

A: Nope! If you’ve got $10, you’ve got pizza. (Pricing starts at $9.99, standard topping charges apply.)

Q: Which Pizza Huts are carrying it?

A: Starting today, Pizza Hut’s Gluten-Free Pizza will be offered in about 2,400 Pizza Hut® restaurants nationwide, but they plan to Hot Off the Press continue to roll it out across the nation. You’ll be able to check if your local Pizza Hut offers Gluten-Free Pizza by going to www.pizzahut.com and entering your zip code or address.

We know you’ll have more questions, and we are here to answer them. They’re taking orders now, so make it a pizza night and let us know what you think!

This is fabulous news for those of us with gluten sensitivities. Thank you so much for another option. Pizza Hut can count me as a customer!

  2. Just to congratulate you on your interest in providing gluten-free pizzas to those with celiac-disease. This is a very nasty condition and it has been difficult for them to enjoy various foods. I have two granddaughters who have this condition, and it is nice to know that I can provide them with a nice lunch from a Pizza Hut by my house. But first I have to check that this one is gluten-free. Thank you again.

I don’t feel like the question was actually answered: “Are these pizzas baked in a separate oven?”
I’m think I’m making a safe assumption that because other issues were addressed, but the actual question was not answered, that the answer is, No. Am I correct?
