Cynthia’s Rustic Apple Sauce
Ingredients
4 cups cubed & peeled Pink Lady apples
4 cups cubed & peeled Granny Smith apple
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dash of salt
2 tablespoons creme fraiche
Directions
Serves 8 -Combine first 8 ingredients (Pink Ladies through Salt) in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Stirring occasionally, cook until the apples are tender, about 25 to 30 minutes. -Remove heat and mash apples with potato masher or put them through a ricer to get your desired consistency. Stir in creme fraiche and serve immediately warm or chill and serve later.
